The period between Christmas and New Year is always a funny one. Part of me just wants to hibernate on the sofa watching films and eating chocolate. And the other part of me wants to be out having fun with the kids and husband. So on the Tuesday we headed off up the M6 to Blackpool, to visit The Sandcastle Waterpark. The waterpark is conveniently located on the seafront, with plenty of parking right next to it (car parking charges apply).
To make our day out extra special, we had decided to book the Tiki Cabana. The Cabana is located upstairs and is accessed by using the electronic wristband given.… Continue reading
So here we are about to say goodbye to 2015. I usually do my ’10 awesome things’ post at the end of the month, but today I am looking back at the past 12 months.
5 places we travelled to
16 days into 2015 and we were embarking on our first break of the year. We were off to Centerparcs for our 13th (I think) trip. It was my daughters 9th birthday whilst we were there, and we woke up to snow. Truly a magical birthday for her.
In April we visited Majorca for 4 nights to see my dad and stepmum who live over there.… Continue reading
If you have a teenager there is a good chance they grew up with the Teletubbies. My 13 year old used to be obsessed with Tinky Winky, Laa-Laa, Po and Dipsy. And who could forget Noo-Noo, the Teletubbies vacuum cleaner that hoovers up the tubby custard. Our house was filled with talking Teletubbies, Noo-Noo, books and countless videos. Morgan would sit for hours transfixed with the colourful characters.
So when I was asked whether I would like to receive a ‘very exciting Teletubbies parcel’ I of course said yes. Our parcel arrived on Christmas Eve, and there is no peeking until the 11th January 2016. … Continue reading
Yesterday we were invited to test our golfing skills at the new Paradise Island Adventure Golf at Cheshire Oaks. It is located on The Coliseum Leisure Park, in the unit which used to be the Destiny and Elite nightclub. The reception desk is on the ground floor, and stairs will take you to the 2 courses which span an impressive 13,000 square foot. There is also a lift if needed.
We chose to do The Lazy Lagoon course first, as it looked to be the quieter of the 2 courses. You start off in an abandoned ship and the course leads you to a deserted beach, complete with lots of palm trees.… Continue reading
One television programme that we have all agreed we will be watching this Christmas is The Stick Man. For those not familiar with The Stick Man, the programme is based on the children’s picture book by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Alex Scheffler, who also created The Gruffalo. The animated programme is on at 4.45pm on Christmas Day, which is the perfect time to snuggle on the sofa with a hot chocolate in hand. Having read the book, my 9 year old is very excited that The Stick Man will be on our screens on Christmas Day. Starring Martin Freeman, Hugh Bonneville, Russell Tovey, Rob Brydon, Sally Hawkins and Jennifer Saunders.… Continue reading
At the end of November I was invited to attend the Co-op Christmas Blogger Evening, which was held at their impressive head office in Manchester. After a long journey I was very grateful to be handed a glass of fizz when I arrived. I had around 10 minutes to catch up with some blogging friends, and we were then invited to take our seats for ‘A Taste of Christmas’. During the evening we had the chance to try lots of food and wine from the Co-op Festive menu for 2015.
We sampled starters which were pate and prawn cocktail which were both delicious.… Continue reading
1 – Putting the tree up in November. Quite simply Christmas is in December NOT November. I had planned to put the tree up on the 18th December, but a certain 9 year old forced us into the loft last Sunday. With a hangover too….. oh the joy.
2 – Braving the shops ANYTIME in December. My Christmas shopping is done via a laptop, Pyjamas on with a large glass of gin/wine/baileys.
3 – Taking about 4 hours to write Christmas cards. Sorry but I don’t see the point in Christmas cards anymore, and have not sent one in about 8 years.… Continue reading
I was recently contacted by The Book of Everyone to see whether I wanted to review one of their personalised books. As soon as I saw personalised, I knew this would be a product for the husband. Being called Hywel there is a certain lack of personalised products, so I knew he would love a whole book dedicated to him.
Their website is super easy to use. At the start you input a few details such as name, gender and date of birth. I like that you are given the option of using your age today, or the age on your next birthday.… Continue reading
I don’t know about you, but planning the food for the Christmas festivities takes up alot of my thinking time. Of course we all panic that the shops are going to be shut for the whole of the Christmas period. And as usual I will no doubt be buying food to feed the five thousand. For the past few weeks I have been buying some Christmas food to put away. Okay the Roses *might* have been opened on more than one occasion. And at least the gin has been purchased.
I do my weekly shop online, but the other day I popped into Tesco and I really missed just wandering around a store.… Continue reading
Last night we headed to Manchester for the press night of Winter Wonderland, which is a fantastic indoor festive theme park. Located at EventCity opposite the Trafford Centre, you will find plenty of free parking. Winter Wonderland is now in its 3rd year, and we have visited every year since it opened in 2013. As well as plenty of indoor fairground rides there is The Sooty Show, Magic Show, Circus, Father Christmas with real reindeers and a stage where we saw Ariel.
Our 9 year old was eager to hit the rides, and you will find the bigger ones towards the back of EventCity.… Continue reading
