Here I am writing my penultimate post in my ’10 reasons’ series. How fast has this year gone ? I can’t believe we are nearing the end of yet another year, though I think I say that every November. Here are 10 awesome things we managed to do this month.

1. Katie brought home a clarinet from school as part of the Sound Start project. Maybe not so awesome for our ears, but its nice to see her improving each week. She will keep the clarinet at home until next summer, when her school year will perform in a concert.

This pictures proves that no two children are the same.

My eldest would sit for hours, quietly doing his puzzles and playing with his huge collection of dinosaurs.

He would never throw any food from his highchair. He hated his hands getting messy.

As you can see from this picture, no two children are the same. This is Katie, taken around 7 years ago.

I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when I was faced with this. So I did what any parent would do. I grabbed the camera (there were no iPhones 7 years ago) and I took a picture.… Continue reading

For the husbands birthday back in October, I surprised him with tickets to a John Newman gig and a night away in Manchester. We spent just over 24 hours away, and we definitely packed in as much as we could. The concert was in the middle of Manchester.  However, I opted to stay at a Premier Inn at The Trafford Centre, as we were heading there the following day.

So on Sunday afternoon after kissing the kids goodbye, we headed off around 1.30pm ready for our 2pm check in time. We quickly unpacked and we were soon heading into the city centre.… Continue reading

As its nearing the end of the year my thoughts are turning to our holiday plans for 2016.  One place we would love to visit is London. We have taken the children on day trips to the capital, but we have never stayed overnight. I would love to experience London at night. Maybe catch a show and then head for a stroll along the South Bank, taking in the beautiful sights of London.

We would usually opt for a hotel stay, if we were heading for a city break with the kids. But as the kids are getting older now, and needing their own space, a hotel does not really suit our needs anymore. … Continue reading

My kids are old enough to bath and shower themselves now, so when Professor Scrubbington’s Emporium of Clean sent me a range of their products, it was over to them to be the testers. We were sent the full range which included Shampoo, Conditioner, Hand and Face Wash, Deodorant, Hair and Body Wash. The products arrived in this super cute cardboard box which acts as a suitcase. I will definitely be using this again as its far too nice to throw away.

What struck me was how nice the products actually looked. Who wants an ugly looking shampoo bottle in the bathroom.… Continue reading

Over the past few months I have seen some stunning sunsets that people have captured. The skies have been lit up with the most amazing colours.

This is a sunset I captured back in 2012 in Florida. Its not the best photograph as it was taken on my Blackberry phone. But the colours are just amazing. We had some fantastic sunsets during our holiday in Florida, and I wish I had captured more of them.

It was taken at Old Key West Hotel in Disneyworld where we were staying for the week.

When I was presented with the teens Christmas list back in September, I knew there had to be a little discussion. Whilst only 4 items had made the list, on the top was a PlayStation 4. I kind of knew this was coming. He has a PlayStation 2 which he got earlier on this year, thanks to the increase in retro gaming. It cost him £30, and whilst he enjoys playing on it, the graphics are not the best. Plus you can’t chat with your mates like you can on the PlayStation 4.

So ‘Santa’ had to use some negotiating skills.… Continue reading

A few weeks ago we decided to spruce up our bathroom. We fitted our bathroom about 10 years ago, and to be honest it was just starting to look a little tired. Husband spent the best part of a day, scraping off the mould on the ceiling and repainting it. Whilst he was working hard, I got the fun job of looking around for new bathroom accessories, and of course making him cups of tea.

I started dreaming of a completely new bathroom. We have a beige bathroom suite, but I would love a shiny new white bathroom which seem to be all the rage at the moment.… Continue reading

I have been suffering with migraines on and off for the past 10 years. Thankfully I had a few years of being migraine free, but in the past 6 months they have returned. Migraines are so debilitating, and can affect people in different ways. I tend to get severe pain with nausea, and unfortunately no medication seems to help.

The only relief I get from my migraine is using Kool n Soothe. Kool n Soothe is a fantastic product, and over the years I must have gone through boxes of them. So I was pleased when Kool n Soothe kindly sent me some samples.… Continue reading

As a family we have been holidaying in the UK for 13 years now. Our very first family holiday, with our son, was to a Haven site in Filey, Yorkshire.  I still remember our last night. We were sat on Filey beach, enjoying a hot chocolate with all the trimmings, and I remember a feeling of sadness. Sad that our very first holiday was coming to an end. That moment could well have started my love of holidays. You see before having the kids, hubby and I had only been away twice. Once to Benidorm, and to be honest I remember very little about that holiday, thanks to the all inclusive vodka.… Continue reading
