Last Sunday evening my husband and I had the opportunity to visit our local Bistrot Pierre restaurant in Stockton Heath. It was our first visit to the popular chain of French restaurant, and I was really looking forward to our evening as I had heard excellent things about the cuisine from a close friend.

Review of Bistrot Pierre

There is a huge variety of eating places in Stockton Heath, and before our visit I must admit that French cuisine was never my top choice. But after dining at Bistrot Pierre my view has totally changed, and French cuisine now sits alongside my favourite, Italian dining.… Continue reading

Afternoon tea has certainly had a huge revival over the past decade, and since turning 40 it’s one of my favourite things to do. When I wrote my A to Z of things to achieve this year, top of the list was to discover a new place for afternoon tea. Well in September I achieved this not once but twice, first enjoying afternoon tea in Birmingham during a weekend away with the girls. And the following week it was time for me to treat my mum for her birthday.

Last week I was invited to try out the new menu at Gusto, an authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of Knutsford. I had previously dined at the restaurant 2 years ago, when myself and a group of girlfriends had visited for lunch. This time I was booked in for dinner with my best friend, and I was looking forward to experiencing Gusto in the evening.

Gusto in Knutsford

You will find Gusto nestled amongst the many restaurants of Knutsford, and as we walked along the high street you realise what a vibrant town it is. It was an unusually warm sunny evening, and as we approached the restaurant you could hear the lively chatter coming from the open windows.… Continue reading

Treating the family to a special meal is always a great opportunity to get together, eat delicious food and catch up on everyone’s news. It seems there’s quite a few families nowadays who don’t sit down together at the end of every day. Instead eating separately, and missing out on all-important family time.

The Brook Restaurant

As the price of living and eating out has gradually increased, are families going to restaurants as much as they used to? Has the growing number of home delivery food companies encouraged families to stay at home. Choosing to dine in the comfort of their own home? Are parents still happy to pay for the additional costs that come with restaurant dining, like travel and restaurant tipping?… Continue reading

During our recent trip to Bath, there was one place where the teen was desperate to eat at…… The Handmade Burger Co. The husband and I had dined at the Grand Central restaurant in Birmingham a few months back. And when we discovered we could also devour their burgers in Bath, we couldn’t wait for our evening at The Handmade Burger Co.

Handmade Burger Co - Bath

Our table was booked for Valentine’s Day. For my husband and son, a succulent burger is the perfect way to celebrate the day of love. I was resigned to the fact that there would be no cosy romantic meal for 2, as we were away for the kids.… Continue reading

I love to celebrate my birthday, and on Sunday we visited Chester to indulge in some shopping, eating and of course a birthday cocktail or two.  Chester has an abundance of eating places in the city, and Hickorys was top of my list for a celebration. Husband and I had previously visited Hickorys back in February, and since then we had been desperate to take the kids. And we were not only celebrating my birthday, but it was Katies in a few days time.

Back in September I visited Birmingham for the very first time with girlfriends. I fell in love with the city so much, that I took the husband on a mini break last weekend. One thing about Birmingham is that you will never go hungry. The city has such a vast and diverse amount of restaurants, ranging from your high street chains to independent ones. Having eaten at the Handmade Burger Co back in September, I knew there was only one place to take my burger mad husband.

During our recent trip to the beautiful area of Dumfries and Galloway, we visited the Galloway Burger House. Located in the village of Gatehouse of Fleet, the burger restaurant can be found inside the Galloway Lodge. During the day you can browse the fantastic selection of jams, chutney and mustard. Or wander around the beautiful gift shop, and stop for a coffee and cake in the café. But on Friday evenings (plus Saturdays in June/July/August) the café is transformed into the Galloway Burger House.

My mum recently celebrated a very special birthday, and as a surprise I booked afternoon tea at Nunsmere Hall Hotel.  The hotel is situated in the heart of Cheshire, and despite driving past many times we had never visited before.  As soon as you enter the grounds of Nunsmere, you know you are somewhere special.

Nunsmere Hall Hotel

Being surrounded by a lake on 3 sides, it really does feel that you have escaped to somewhere magical. You can’t help but gaze at the stunning building and gardens, and once inside I felt like I had stepped into Downton Abbey. We were greeted by the most charming doorman, who showed us into the lounge area where our afternoon tea would be served.… Continue reading

Having a teenager who is burger and film mad, Planet Hollywood was top of our list for visiting during our recent trip to London. We wanted somewhere that not only served delicious food, but a restaurant that offered something unique and quirky, and Planet Hollywood looked as if it would tick all the boxes.

We decided to book a table for 5pm on the Sunday, which would give us plenty of time to enjoy our meal before our night time bus tour at 8.30pm. We arrived at the restaurant after a pleasant stroll from Piccadilly Circus tube station, and despite being 30 minutes early we were shown to our table.… Continue reading
