The Blackpool Tower Eye Experience

On Sunday as we were driving along the M55 into Blackpool, we played the usual game of ‘who can spot The Tower’ first. A few hours later and we were at the top of The Blackpool Tower, seeing who would be brave enough to stand on the Blackpool Tower glass floor. No trip to Blackpool is complete without setting foot inside the world famous Blackpool Tower.

How much is the Blackpool Tower Eye Experience ?

The Tower Eye Experience is currently priced at £12.50 per adult on the day, and £10.00 per child. If you book online, prices can be cheaper, and they also offer Blackpool combined tickets for other attractions, such as Blackpool Jungle Jims and the Blackpool Tower Ballroom.

Where is the entrance to the Blackpool Tower Eye Experience ?

The entrance for The Blackpool Tower Experience can be found on level 5 of The Tower. We were advised there was a 30 minute queue, but to be honest this went really quickly. You can learn all about the history of Blackpool on the various televisions. Did you know there are more hotels and bed and breakfasts in Blackpool than the whole of Portugal ? The children seemed fascinated watching the scenes of Blackpool in the ‘olden days’.

Blackpool Tower 4d Cinema

After queuing for around 15 minutes, we collected our 4d glasses and headed into the theatre. The film lasts for around 10 minutes, and it brings to life The Blackpool Tower. The film is accompanied by Kylie Minogue’s hit ‘All the Lovers’ and guaranteed you will be singing this for the rest of the day. A little tip, head for the top of the theatre on the left hand side.  This means that after the film, you will be first in the queue for the lifts which take you to the top.

Getting to the top of the Blackpool Tower

We queued for a further 10 minutes, and then it was time to enter the lifts. It takes just over a minute to reach the top. We were accompanied by a member of staff who told us some more history of The Blackpool Tower. The Tower actually opened on the 14th May 1894, and has been an iconic landmark of Blackpool ever since.

The glass floor at the top of the Blackpool Tower

Once you are at the top you are free to spend as much time up there as you want. You are met by the huge glass skywalk infront of you, together with huge windows looking out over the Blackpool promenade. On a clear day you can see Liverpool and the Isle of Man. If you wish to go higher, there are steps to the next level and husband and the kids were straight up there. I took some photos of the view, whilst gingerly moving myself around the glass. Yep husband and daughter were the crazy ones who SAT ON IT.

Jungle Jims in the Blackpool Tower

We spent around 30 minutes at the top, and 5 minutes queuing to go back down in the lift. After a quick visit to the gift shop, Katie spotted Jungle Jims which is the indoor play area located in The Blackpool Tower. We paid £6.50 for an hour and it was well worth it, just to have a coffee and a sit down. After Jungle Jims we had lunch at The Burger Kitchen, which was good value and only £20 for the 4 of us.

You could spend a full day at just The Blackpool Tower. As well as the Tower Eye Experience, you have the fantastic circus and of course the famous ballroom.

If you are thinking of staying in Blackpool for the night, check out my review of the brilliant Big Blue Hotel, or you could combine your visit with a splash at the Sandcastle Waterpark on Blackpool promenade.

We were provided with tickets for the Blackpool Tower Experience. All words and opinions are my own.
