Goodbye 2015

So here we are about to say goodbye to 2015. I usually do my ’10 awesome things’ post at the end of the month, but today I am looking back at the past 12 months.

5 places we travelled to

16 days into 2015 and we were embarking on our first break of the year. We were off to Centerparcs for our 13th (I think) trip. It was my daughters 9th birthday whilst we were there, and we woke up to snow. Truly a magical birthday for her.

In April we visited Majorca for 4 nights to see my dad and stepmum who live over there. We stayed in an amazing all inclusive hotel, and the kids both made some lovely friends that they are still in touch with.

We might have only travelled 10 minutes up the road, but in August saw us glamping for 1 night. And the icing on the cake was the hot tub on the decking.

In September I escaped on a wonderful girls weekend away. We stayed in an amazing lodge in the heart of the Cheshire countryside.

As soon as the children broke up for the summer, we were in the car and heading to Nottinghamshire, a county we had never visited. We stayed for a week at Forest Holidays, and it was the most relaxing holiday we have had.

4 things we have achieved

Hywel did his first competitive 10k run this year, coming 4th and achieving a PB of 43 minutes and 43 seconds.

Morgan got his brown belt in karate, and also came first in a recent Kata Competition.

Katie became a seconder in Cubs, and she was delighted at being asked.

And I finished the year being ranked number 53 in the Trips100 chart.

2 things I won’t forget

Having the opportunity to wear my wedding dress again after 14 years of it being in the loft. Ok it might have had to be altered to get my backside in it, but I loved being able to wear it again. The occasion was a ‘Brides night out’ which was for charity, and in exactly the same room that I said ‘I do’ 14 years before. A very special night with friends.

Going to an amazing Dare to Dine event at The Trafford Centre, which involved watching Pulp Fiction whilst being served food connected to the film.

1 thing that has made me cry

Losing my beloved nan back in June.

  1. Looks like a wonderful year and you look gorgeous in your dress. There is no way I’d fit into mine right now. I would love a Forest holiday, those hot tubs look so relaxing. Happy new year!!

    • Thanks Sarah. I am not holding out any hopes for snow this year, but I suppose you never know. My dream is to get snowed in at Centerparcs for about a fortnight. As you know we love our lodge holidays and have been plotting and planning for the coming year xx

    • Thanks Katy. It was tinged with sadness with losing my nan, but I keep reminding myself she was nearly 91. Wearing my wedding dress and being in a room with 100 other brides was definitely surreal xx

    • Aw thanks Sarah. We mainly had a fantastic year, though tinged with sadness in losing my nan. The brides night was probably the most surreal night of the year, closely followed by the Pulp Fiction night. Good memories xx
