Today I will pick my little lady up from primary school for the very last time. The final school run EVER at 3.15pm, after doing it for 11 years.

Primary School

11 years of doing the school run in the wind, rain, snow, sleet, hail and occasionally the sun.

11 years of getting my children to school on time (apart from that time I was REALLY late and Katie got a late mark). Oh and that time my husband went to work with the house keys in his pocket and we were locked in.

11 years of standing in a soggy school field, cheering on your kids at sports day.

11 years of sitting on a small plastic chair for parents evening.

11 years of watching nativity plays, drama productions, music concerts and whatever else the school throws at us.

11 years of popping into the school office to pay trip money, dinner money, sponsorship money.

11 years of school fairs, books fairs, cake fairs. Always coming home with more ‘stuff’ than you donated.

11 years of failing at being ‘creative mummy’ for World Book Day, decorate an egg competition or the Easter bonnet parade.

11 years of waving my kids off on school trips, and handing them over to the care of their teachers.

11 years of after school clubs.

11 years of sponsored events and charity days, always being happy to donate.

11 years of having the most amazing leadership with Mr Jackson.  First as an assistant head, and now as a truly fantastic headteacher.  I also credit him for encouraging Morgan to start Karate, of which he is a black belt now.

11 years of seeing them both become happy, confident and polite children (though obviously the teen just grunts now).

11 years of being part of an amazing primary school, and one that we are going to miss so very much.

11 years gone in a flash.

The end of an era…… Goodbye primary school

It has certainly been an emotional 3 weeks to be honest. Katie has taken it mainly in her stride, but I don’t deal with change very well. But I know it will be an exciting time for her come September x

  2. 11 years of memories! Love it. I was smiling and nodding along with this. Although the tears aren’t far away either. x

Aw it’s been an emotional time for us both hasn’t it. And double emotion with your eldest leaving high school too. But we got through it haven’t we x

  3. I have this next year and not looking forward to it at all. She’s beautiful and sounds like she’s ready. Not sure about us adults. Hope you all have a great summer x
