I have recently returned from a girls weekend to The Hollies which is in the heart of Cheshire. The Hollies is a small collection of deluxe lodges, which all have their own private hot tub. I have had my eye on a lodge stay here since they were first built, and finally I got to experience the luxurious lodges. The emphasis here is definitely relaxation in decadent surroundings. I have stayed in a fair few lodges over the years, and this is definitely up there with the best.

We decided to book The Grand Fir which promised us ‘a sense of serenity and relaxation’. Perfect for a girls weekend. We checked in at 3pm, and by 4.30pm we were unpacked and enjoying that all important glass of Prosecco on the decking. Our first night consisted of chatting away in the hot tub, and enjoying a gorgeous buffet dinner.

As our lodge slept 6, there were 2 double bedrooms and a twin room. There is a ‘Jack and Jill’ bathroom between 2 of the bedrooms, just remember to lock both doors lol. There is a really well equipped kitchen complete with dishwasher, washing machine and enough serving dishes to keep my friend very happy. 2 desks were in the large living area, 1 of which we transformed into the bar area. I love the little touches all around the lodge. This guy was in the living area complete with a scarf keeping him warm.

In our bedroom we had the most amazing wallpaper, and whilst I have not slept in a twin bed for some years, it was really comfy. The master bedroom is huge, complete with a large en suite and doors to the decked area. Its the little extras that make a lodge stand out. Tea and coffee were provided, fluffy towels and even toiletries in all the bathrooms. We just needed a butler to serve us drinks when we were in the hot tub.

No trip to the lodges is complete without going to the farm shop and gift barn. An abundant of local produce can be found in the shop, and also served in the café. We visited the café after our 10am check out on the Sunday. A sausage sandwich and a strong coffee was needed before we all headed home, relaxed and rejuvenated from our weekend.

Obviously this kind of luxury does not come cheap. Our Grand Fir lodge was £285 per night, and we stayed for 2 nights. But when you share it amongst 5 of you, £114 for the weekend is a bargain. The lodges also book up really quickly, and our weekend was booked more than 12 months in advance.

I would certainly recommend The Hollies and it was perfect for a girls weekend away. The only niggle was the hot tub was not very bubbly, and was abit of a squeeze when all 5 of us were in there . I couldn’t imagine taking the hubby and kids, purely on the price, but would be great to go with extended family and split the cost. A big thanks has to go to our husbands, who take on the kids for the weekend whilst we go off and enjoy ourselves.
