Welcome to Sani Dunes

Last week I had the amazing opportunity to experience Sani Dunes, the latest luxury hotel to be built at the Sani Resort in Greece. Located in beautiful Halkidiki on mainland Greece, the resort is around 50 minutes from Thessaloniki airport.

The impeccable service that Sani is renowned for starts at the airport. Being greeted with a bottle of water and led to an air conditioned car was certainly welcome in the heat. And forget standing in a large queue to check in. At Sani Dunes you are welcomed with a cold towel, a refreshing spray of cold mist to your face, and of course a welcome drink.

I defy anyone not to be seriously impressed with the reception at Sani Dunes. The contemporary and luxurious feel lends itself to a more grown up environment, and for this season the age limit is 12 and above. Katie was one of the very first children to stay in Dunes, and she loved the experience.

The whole design of the hotel has been very carefully thought out. The majority of the low rise accommodation is set around the pool, with around 14 suites commanding a beach front location. And we were extremely lucky to stay in one of these. The location of our beachfront suite could not have been more perfect for us as a family. It was a few steps to the Beach House restaurant where we went for breakfast each morning. A few steps in the other direction was the pool, and a short stroll and we were at Sani Marina. And let’s not forget this amazing view we woke up to every morning.

Katie was quite content to stay around the pool each day, but this is no ordinary hotel pool. The Sani Dunes pool is the largest heated swimming pool in Greece. And believe me it is HUGE. And of course the amazing service continues around the pool. As soon as you have chosen your sun bed (a very important decision of course), bottles of water are brought over to you in a cool bag. Of course if you fancy something stronger you can order drinks from your sunbed or the pool bar.

As the hotel was originally marketed for children over 12, you won’t find a kids club in the hotel. That doesn’t mean that children are not catered for. The older children have their own dedicated chill out lounge just a short stroll from Dunes called Ozone. A place where they can practise their DJ skills, take part in outdoor activities such as archery and sailing, or just chill out on the swing chairs.

And as for us adults, well we can choose not to leave our sunbed for the duration of our holiday if we wish. But if you prefer a more active holiday, Sani has it covered. I have shared more about the activities on offer which includes the not to be missed Volvo experience. And of course sharing the amazing dining experiences we had both at Sani Dunes and Sani Marina.

If you are a regular reader you will know we love Ikos Olivia where we have holidayed for the past 2 years. But our love has now grown to include the breathtaking Sani Dunes.

We have since stayed at Sani Asterias in 2019, and you can read all about our trip to Asterias here.

We were invited to spend 5 days at Sani Dunes hotel. All words and opinions are my own.

    • There was no way I could get the pool all in one photograph as it was SO huge. Katie was made up to have it to herself pretty much every day, apart from when I joined her for a float around. It was an amazing holiday and everything about the hotel was perfection x

    • Aw glad you enjoyed my IG stories Sam. The service really is outstanding, and whilst Sani Dunes is currently for kids aged 12 and over, they are removing the age limit for the 2018 season. The whole resort is huge as it now has 5 hotels, and a stunning marina. Ah take me back now x
