When you hear the word Lindt at this time of year, you can’t help but think of their gold chocolate reindeer. The cute little reindeer with it’s red velvet bow and tinkling bell, all ready to surprise you when you open your Christmas stocking. But it’s not all about the reindeers, as Lindt also has a fantastic variety of other products to tempt us with this Christmas.

I like to be pretty organised for Christmas, and tend to start my shopping once the kids go back after October half term. I usually have a pretty good idea of what to get the kids, and to be honest they do present me with a rather large list. But when it comes to buying presents for the males in our family, I find myself getting a little stuck. Do you stick to the traditional pack of socks, the Lynx gift set, or a set of beers from around the world.

This Christmas I am going to take a little inspiration from some of the gifts my husband received for his recent birthday.… Continue reading

*This post does contain pictures of the full contents of the Smiggle 2017 calendar*

*I am also giving away a Smiggle advent calendar here*

Tis the season to start thinking about advent calendars, and my 11 year old daughter has already started her campaign to find the best one. Being a stationery addict she is of course drawn to the advent calendar from Smiggle. The calendar promises 25 days of stationery surprises, as well as offering a great competition to win a whopping £500 Smiggle shopping spree.

Smiggle Advent Calendar 2017 contents

So the big question is….. what exactly is inside the calendar. The contents are not listed on the Smiggle website, and I was originally going to open a few doors to offer a sneak peek inside.… Continue reading

I hope everybody had an enjoyable Christmas and has eaten and drank far too much, played countless board games and had lots of lazy days. Or has that just been us. Here is what we have been up to over the festive period.

Despite receiving 2 books for Christmas and promising myself early nights to read them, nope not even started them. I blame the ‘watched’ section for this.

Hurrah for the last day of term. As always with this time of year it has been filled with parties, film days, end of term tests, carol concerts and more. The kids (and I) are knackered and we are looking forward to a full week of chilling out before the big day arrives. In amongst the craziness of the week, I did manage Festive Afternoon Tea out with my best friend. It was the perfect opportunity to catch up, chill out, and of course eat lots of yummy cakes. So what else have we been up to this past fortnight.

Santa and HeadphonesWell its that time of year when I can finally breathe a sigh of relief, as nearly everything has been ticked off the present buying lists. One thing I still need to buy is headphones. My 11 year old son requested these, as he spends time listening to music on his ipad. He also requested that they are wireless. Now being nearly 40 and not down with the kids, I thought that all headphones came with wires. I then drifted back several thousand years to a Sunday evening, when I would plug my headphones in and listen to the top 40.… Continue reading

So today I finished wrapping some more presents and decided to photograph this lovely little bundle of gifts. The lucky recipient on Christmas day will be my hubby. I know….. he is a lucky boy. Except all these gifts cost exactly £10. Yep me and the hubby have a strict budget of a tenner, and have done this since having kids. We prefer to put our money towards gifts for the children, and days out around Christmas. And it has to be exactly £10. not under or over even by a penny. And no going to Poundland and getting 10 things….… Continue reading

Xmas piggyI love money saving and I am not afraid to admit it I worship Martin Lewis. I first found his website www.moneysavingexpert.co.uk (MSE for short) about 7 years ago when I gave up work to be a stay at home mum. Over the years, all thanks to MSE we appealed to get our council tax band lowered and WON, I have done lots of Mystery Shopping, I always shop around and I never leave the house without some form of voucher in my purse. Talking to other people though, it seems not everyone knows about the deals that are out there, and I thought I would blog about some of the savings we have made this past 2 weeks.… Continue reading
