‘There are two gifts we should give our children. One is roots and the other is wings’
This quote has been at the forefront of my mind recently. Our eldest will be turning 16 in the summer, and I am well aware that we are on borrowed time when it comes to family holidays. It will soon be time for him to spread his wings, go off on his own adventures with his own friends. Every holiday has me treasuring the moments we are together as a family, even those times when he is bickering with his sister.
When Simpson Travel opened their travel ambassador programme, they wanted to know what inspired you about their holidays. … Continue reading
Our travel plans for this year are slightly different. Having managed 14 trips away during 2017, we will be travelling far less this year due to one thing…. GCSEs. Holidays are on hold for the first 6 months of the year, but I have made up for our lack of travel with our summer holiday trip. This is how 2018 is shaping up so far.
The husband and I managed to escape for a night to celebrate my birthday. We booked one of our favourite Premier Inns at The Trafford Centre for the bargain price of £29. We ate, shopped, drank gin, but sadly we were tucked up in bed before 10pm as hubby was suffering with the flu.… Continue reading
I love writing this post which gives me the chance to look back at our travels for the past year. In 2017 we managed 14 trips of 1 night or over. 2 of the trips have just been myself and the husband, 1 has been a girlie night away, 9 trips with the family, and the kids have enjoyed 2 school trips.
Our first trip of 2017 was to the beautiful city of Bath. Staying in a luxurious 3 bedroom lodge at Bath Mill Lodge Retreat, it was the perfect base to explore the city. We enjoyed visiting the Roman Baths, wandering around the stunning Bath Cathedral, and enjoyed a bus tour around the city.… Continue reading
KEEP CALM and ROAD TRIP
A car, the open road and your family is all you need.
With summer nearly here, what better way to enjoy the sun and holidays than a family road trip. When opting for a fun road trip, it’s not just about the destination; it is about the journey too.
It’s a really exciting prospect for children and all you need is a car, the open road and your family. It also allows you to avoid high airport prices, long flight delays and dreaded plane journeys.
However, unexpected back seat quibbles and the repeatedly asked question ‘are we there yet’ could lead to resorting to iPads to keep them quiet.… Continue reading
I am a creature of habit when it comes to holidays. Yes I know there is a huge world out there to explore, but if you give me the perfect holiday then I am going to find it very hard not to return. And this is how I felt when we got back from our first visit to Ikos Olivia in April 2016.
We pretty much experienced the perfect holiday last year, no mean feat when you are travelling with a teen and tween. Add to this that Ikos Olivia won the best all inclusive hotel in Europe (AND second in the world), and I knew that I would be hard pushed to find another hotel that would match the Ikos service.… Continue reading
At the start of 2016, I was inspired to join in with the Take 12 Trips challenge after reading Karen from Mini Travellers post. The idea is simple, to take 12 Trips over the course of the year, which was thought up by blogger Clare from Need another holiday. I have taken a total of 14 trips during 2016 (1 night or over), of which 2 have been girlie weekends, 4 trips with my husband and 8 as a family.
15 days into the New year and we were off on our first trip of 2016. It was a double celebration at Centerparcs, with Katie and I celebrating our birthdays whilst we were there.… Continue reading
