I was very kindly tagged by the lovely Stevie over at A Cornish Mum, to answer 20 random facts about myself.
When was the last time you cried ?
That is an easy one, as it was around 4.30pm on Tuesday. It has been a challenging and emotional week for me, and I have cried more times than usual. I am an emotional person and I tend to cry when I am sad, angry, upset, even happy. I even cried at the end of The Greatest Showman.
If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself ?… Continue reading
‘There are two gifts we should give our children. One is roots and the other is wings’
This quote has been at the forefront of my mind recently. Our eldest will be turning 16 in the summer, and I am well aware that we are on borrowed time when it comes to family holidays. It will soon be time for him to spread his wings, go off on his own adventures with his own friends. Every holiday has me treasuring the moments we are together as a family, even those times when he is bickering with his sister.
When Simpson Travel opened their travel ambassador programme, they wanted to know what inspired you about their holidays. … Continue reading
I thought I had better update this post, as Ikos Olivia can no longer say it’s the 2nd best all inclusive hotel in the world. It has been voted THE BEST all inclusive hotel in not just Europe, but THE WORLD too. When I heard the news, which was announced on TripAdvisors 2018 Travellers’ Choice Awards, I was thrilled for all the staff at Ikos Olivia.
When I wrote this post last year, we had only been to the hotel once. We returned last April and the service, as you would expect from a hotel that is crowned best in its category, was impeccable from start to finish.… Continue reading
About 6 months ago the teen arrived home from school clutching a letter which was promptly handed to me. Now this in itself is extraordinary as school letters often remain crumpled and unloved at the bottom of his school bag. And judging by the hopefulness spreading across his face, it was something he desperately wanted to do.
The letter was from the Geography department about an October trip to Iceland. A beautiful country where he would experience Plate Tectonics and Glaciation, all supporting his learning towards his GCSE Geography exam next year. And yes my husband and myself were very jealous of this amazing opportunity.… Continue reading
With another bank holiday on the horizon, people will be looking to spend a few nights under canvas. We used to love camping when the kids were little, but for the past 3 years the tent has stayed in the loft. I fear that camping may not be the same when the teenager realises that a tent does not come with a PS4 and superfast broadband.
We started camping when the kids were 3 and 6, and we have many happy camping memories. Our camping experiences were definitely a learning curve, and with each trip I learnt something new. The most important one, ALWAYS pack a corkscrew for your wine, yes a HUGE error on my part. … Continue reading
A few weeks ago, bloggers up and down the land were eagerly awaiting news on Mark Warner’s Family Ambassador programme. Since starting blogging back in 2013, I have heard only glowing reports from people who have been on Mark Warner holidays. And last years Ambassadors showed us how to holiday, ski and sail…. Mark Warner style.
Mark Warner has been around since 1974, which coincidentally is the same time as me. Though I am sure Mark Warner has fewer wrinkles and grey hairs. In those 43 years the holiday company has grown and evolved, and it got me thinking of how much our family holidays have changed with time too. … Continue reading
At the start of 2016, I was inspired to join in with the Take 12 Trips challenge after reading Karen from Mini Travellers post. The idea is simple, to take 12 Trips over the course of the year, which was thought up by blogger Clare from Need another holiday. I have taken a total of 14 trips during 2016 (1 night or over), of which 2 have been girlie weekends, 4 trips with my husband and 8 as a family.
15 days into the New year and we were off on our first trip of 2016. It was a double celebration at Centerparcs, with Katie and I celebrating our birthdays whilst we were there.… Continue reading
I LOVE holidays to the point where I think I am bordering on becoming a holiday addict. I suppose there are worse things to be addicted to… though I am sure the credit card would not agree.
Its funny as when I met my husband we only went on 2 holidays before we had the children. One of them was to Benidorm for a week (I dont actually remember much about this holiday… All inclusive… lots of vodka… say no more) and the other was to Mexico for our Honeymoon.
We went on our first holiday when our first born was 9 months old.… Continue reading
I LOVE Centerparcs !!!
We as a family have been incredibly lucky to have stayed at Whinfell Forest 8 times (10 times for me as I have been on 2 girlie holidays there too). And in January 2014 we are off there again to celebrate my daughters 8th birthday and my ahem 40th !!!
So when I started blogging and found that Centerparcs run a competition to find family bloggers – I was more than a little excited. Now I am not the best creative person to grace this planet. However I headed over to Movie Maker, armed with pictures of us all enjoying Centerparcs as a family over the past 7 years, and managed to make this
Hope you enjoy it and best of luck to everyone entering this fantastic competition… Continue reading
