I love writing this post which gives me the chance to look back at our travels for the past year. In 2017 we managed 14 trips of 1 night or over. 2 of the trips have just been myself and the husband, 1 has been a girlie night away, 9 trips with the family, and the kids have enjoyed 2 school trips.
Our first trip of 2017 was to the beautiful city of Bath. Staying in a luxurious 3 bedroom lodge at Bath Mill Lodge Retreat, it was the perfect base to explore the city. We enjoyed visiting the Roman Baths, wandering around the stunning Bath Cathedral, and enjoyed a bus tour around the city.… Continue reading
Up until our little Northumberland trip we had only had 1 night away during the summer holidays, so our 3 day break to Slaley Hall was very much needed. After our traditional stop at Tebay Services on the M6 (the BEST services as it’s like your favourite farm shop opening up on a motorway) we arrived at our 3 bedroom lodge.
I knew what to expect as we had stayed at Slaley Hall last year, but you still get the wow factor when you first enter. We have stayed in A LOT of lodges over the years, and Slaley wins hands down for the biggest lodge.… Continue reading
Back in January I wrote my A to Z of things to achieve in 2017. Seeing as though we are halfway through August, I thought it was time to update you on my progress.
Discover a new place to have afternoon tea – I am booked in for afternoon tea in September, so this will get ticked off next month.
Hire a beach hut – In June I got to spend the day in a beach hut in Lytham St Annes.
Visit a new city – Bath was our ‘new city’ and what a wonderful 4 day break we had back in February.… Continue reading
Here we are at the end of half term and what a fantastic week we have had. On Monday we went to Geronimo at Tatton Park, which was an amazing family friendly festival. On Wednesday we travelled up to Northumberland and stayed at Slaley Hall with Q Lodges. We returned back home yesterday, and I am still smiling about our wonderful trip.
I had every intention of finishing my book when we went to Slaley Hall, but late nights seemed to get in the way. I did however read the guide to Northumberland which was in the lodge, if that counts.… Continue reading
You know when you arrive somewhere for the very first time, and you instantly know you are going to love it. That is how I felt when we arrived at Q Lodges, Slaley Hall yesterday just after 4pm. It took 3 hours to drive from Cheshire to Hexham in Northumberland, and I didn’t realise what a straight forward journey it would be. Check in for the lodges is in the main hotel, and as soon as you enter the reception area you realise what a breathtaking place Slaley Hall is. We were given our keys, information pack and also our golf buggy keys. … Continue reading
