The Easter holidays are coming to an end, and this year it has been slightly different for us. We usually spend a week in Greece at our favourite hotel, but this year we stayed at home due to the impending GCSEs. The teen has been in school nearly every day over the holidays, and thankfully he doesn’t seem to mind. He has been balancing revision with hanging out with his mates, and time on his beloved PlayStation. We did manage a trip to Shrewsbury over the Easter weekend, and it was lovely to get away for a few days.

There is no getting away from the fact that advent calendars seem to be a huge part in the run up to Christmas, and it seems nowadays you can open those 24 (or if you are lucky 25) doors and find pretty much anything behind it. I have selected 5 calendars that are available this year suitable for tweens, teens and adults.

The full contents are listed on the back of the calendar, so no peaking if you want it to be a surprise.… Continue reading

Having a teen and tween I know how important it is for them to start looking after their skin from an early age. Katie was 11 in January, and for the past few months she has been getting outbreaks of tiny spots on her forehead. Now I am not going to lie, I was a little taken aback when I saw them. Of course I know that most children will suffer with spots, but it was more the realisation that my baby girl was growing up.

Today I will pick my little lady up from primary school for the very last time. The final school run EVER at 3.15pm, after doing it for 11 years.

Primary School

11 years of doing the school run in the wind, rain, snow, sleet, hail and occasionally the sun.

11 years of getting my children to school on time (apart from that time I was REALLY late and Katie got a late mark). Oh and that time my husband went to work with the house keys in his pocket and we were locked in.

11 years of standing in a soggy school field, cheering on your kids at sports day.… Continue reading
