5 under £5 in January – Candles, Orla Kiely and fluffy cushions

Around the home

6 Feb

It’s been a few months since I joined in with Julia’s challenge of showcasing 5 things under £5. Of course last month was all about the sales, and I bagged a few bargains. Plus I discovered how fantastic the home section is in Primark, and more importantly how cheap it is. So here are my top 5, and please do pop over to Rainbeaubelle to see what everybody else has been buying.

Five under five

Everybody needs a pineapple in their life, right. My daughter spotted this in the clearance section at TK Maxx, and she just knew that I would buy it at the bargain price of £5.

Primark cushion

I adore this heart cushion from Primark which was only £3. I noticed yesterday that they also have them in purple, pink and a teal colour too. I am sure I can sneak a few more into the house.

Primark tealight holder

Another bargain from Primark, I LOVE this copper tea light holder which was only £2.50. Though it does remind me a little of the crystal maze dome.

Candles and trays

Another purchase from TK Maxx was this chevron gold candle which was £5. I think I might just use it for decoration though instead of lighting it. Does anybody else do this ?

Orla Kiely Tin

SO much love for this Orla Kiely tin with body mist which was only £3 in the Boots sale. I would have actually paid way more than that just for the tin. I was very lucky as I also got lots of Orla Kiely goodies for my birthday a few weeks ago.

Five items under £5

All 5 items came in at £18.50, which just goes to show you can brighten up your home for less than twenty quid. What was your favourite item that you bought in January ?

Haha that copper tea light does look like the crystal maze one. I now want to say “mumsie” :). That cushion is so cute. Z loves anything heart shaped so I might go have a look!

How I miss the crystal maze and funnily enough I saw they were looking for contestants for the new series. Maybe we could have a blogger team lol x

Great Orla tin! I scoured the sale in our local Boots, but they didn’t have any sadly! I also love the Primark candle holder.

I love the copper tea light holder, I have a similar star one from Wilko. The homeware section in Primark is fantastic and so affordable too. I went to the Boots sale too late and the shelves were stripped bare, I need to plan better next year as I’ve seen people get some wonderful bargains this year.

I think I touched lucky with the Boots sale. I got a few presents to put away too for birthdays throughout the year. I am loving Primark at the moment, such gorgeous things and really affordable x

Ooh that little Orla Kiely tin is lovely and what a bargain! I always forget to look in the Boots sale after Christmas – I keep trying to be good and not buy too many smellies as I end up with so many that I never get chance to use, it’s so hard when I see things like this though. Primark has some fabulous things, I always forget to look in the home section, love the crystal dome candle holder, haha xx

I know what you mean about having too many smellies. I get them at Christmas, then my birthday in January and then I can’t resist the sales too. I don’t think I need anymore smellies for the rest of the year. Oooo you must look in the home section, there have been so many nice things in there lately x

    Hi Tracey,

I love both the candles, being a bit of a candle nut myself, the chevron patterned one looks pretty retro and funky, I’d use it and then make another to go in the container myself, then you will always have it 🙂

The other copper tealight looks looks quite modern in comparison but I think they go well together, well done on your keen eye for a good deal

Thanks Matt, that is a good idea of making another one to go in the container. I suppose candles are meant to be lit x

May your coffee be quiet this morning. Good luck w May your coffee be quiet this morning. Good luck with the back to school runs and everything else that goes with it. We are back tomorrow after daughter has her test this morning. I still feel conflicted with shielding still in place until the end of the month but I know my sociable 15 year old needs to go back to school. In other news I left the house yesterday for a take away coffee and car picnic (wild times). How pretty is this cup.

This picture might just look like the inside of a restaurant, but it was the day when we realised the Coronavirus might start having a ‘small’ impact on our lives. I met my husband for lunch and we sat and talked about how his work was starting temperature checks, and they had to bring their laptop home incase they couldn’t go in the following day. How little did we know what the next 12 months would bring to us all. Is anyone else looking back at their photos and thinking this time last year ?

Yesterday these little beauties made me smile. I added them to my online food shop with @morrisons at the bargain price of £3.33 obviously left over from Valentines Day. They are definitely having an impact on my mood this week
