One television programme that we have all agreed we will be watching this Christmas is The Stick Man. For those not familiar with The Stick Man, the programme is based on the children’s picture book by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Alex Scheffler, who also created The Gruffalo. The animated programme is on at 4.45pm on Christmas Day, which is the perfect time to snuggle on the sofa with a hot chocolate in hand. Having read the book, my 9 year old is very excited that The Stick Man will be on our screens on Christmas Day. Starring Martin Freeman, Hugh Bonneville, Russell Tovey, Rob Brydon, Sally Hawkins and Jennifer Saunders.

And that’s not all, as The Stick Man is also making an appearance across Forestry Commission sites this winter. You will be able to follow the self led trail around the forest, to help the Stick Man find his way back to the family tree. On the trail you will be able to participate in activities, which are based on the books favourite characters. You can read more about the trail here, and see whether The Stick Man will be at your nearest forest this winter.  You can also sign up on the website to receive free Stick Man activity sheets.

As we are 20 minutes away from our local forest, we will definitely be heading there between Christmas and New Year. We all need a good excuse to remove ourselves  from the sofa, and into the fresh air at this time of year. We can’t wait to see The Stick Man on our screens and in the forest this Christmas.
