*Sadly the Stockton Heath restaurant has now closed. Please see the website for your nearest Bistrot Pierre restaurant*
Last week my husband and I were invited to Bistrot Pierre to try out their ‘Soiree Gastronomique’ evening. We would be dining on a six course menu, which in itself is exciting. But since our last visit in October, their restaurant in Stockton Heath has had an exciting makeover, and we couldn’t wait to experience the newly refurbished Bistrot Pierre.
On entering, I was pleased to see that the layout of the restaurant is very similar to how it was, and it still retains it’s welcoming feel. We both loved the fresh new look, the rustic wooden tables, the new colour scheme and the adornment of pictures and mirrors on the wall.
Even though it was midweek, the restaurant was nearly full and had a vibrant atmosphere. Most people were here to enjoy the Soiree Gastronomique event, which Bistrot Pierre hold on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.
We began our Gastronomy evening with Soupe de jour which was fish. This was the first time either of us had tried fish soup, and to be honest I didn’t quite know what to expect. But I have to say the soup was delicious, not overly fishy with a spicy twist to it. I did have to stop my husband from dunking his bread in it, totally fine at home, but not when you are in a restaurant.
Our second starter was mackerel pate, which was served with crème fraiche, lemon and paprika. I love how it was served with a crème fraiche topping, and really added to the flavour of the pate. The serving was plentiful and our second starter had quickly disappeared.
The main course, and this was a choice between sea bass and beef. We both chose the beef, or should I say the Bouef, which was served with a red wine, leek and mustard sauce. The beef just melted in your mouth and the whole meal was delicious.
After the main course we had a well earned break before dessert, and as it was Pancake Day there was only one thing to serve….. Crepes. I had been waiting ALL day for my pancakes, and they were certainly worth waiting for.
And if one dessert wasn’t enough, then we had the rustic cheeseboard to look forward to. I must admit that a cheeseboard is one of my favourite desserts, and this one did not disappoint. This was our ‘sharing’ cheeseboard, which was more than enough for both of us.
The final course of the evening was coffee, and we both agreed that our Gastronomy evening had been a feast for the senses. We had eaten delicious food, drank wine, and enjoyed the ambience of the new Bistrot Pierre. A perfect evening with perfect company.
The Stockton Heath restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, plus breakfast at the weekends (I can highly recommend the breakfasts). Bookings can be made by calling 01925 214250 or book online here.
We were invited to experience the Gastronomique evening at the newly refurbished Bistrot Pierre. All words and opinions are my own.
