Review – The Ring O’Bells in Warrington

Last Saturday night we were invited to try out the menu at a local pub in Warrington. The Ring O’Bells is a completely new pub to us, and is located on Church Street on the outskirts of Warrington town centre. Despite its close proximity to the centre of town, the pub is nestled next to a beautiful church on a cobbled side street, and the pub itself is a listed building.

Open Fire

After going through a refurbishment in 2017, the pub has retained many of it’s features such as an open fire and traditional beams, which gives the pub a warm and cosy feel.

We were lucky to be seated next to the fire, which was very much appreciated on a cold November night, and  Zoe was our server for the evening. Not only does the Ring O’Bells have an extensive menu (the teen was VERY impressed at the amount of burgers on offer), but they also offer food challenges. You could take on the burger challenge, breakfast challenge, or even be faced with 8 chicken wings coated in the hottest sauce you can imagine.

We opted for the more traditional offerings on the menu, and for starters we had fish strips, loaded potato skins, cheesy garlic bread, and nachos. My son’s starter of nachos was a huge portion, and was served with all the trimmings including a large pot of cheese sauce. In true teen style he managed to polish the whole lot off.

My husband’s potato skins were also a generous portion, and he said the skins were the best he had ever tasted. My fish strips were delicious, and Katie’s cheesy garlic bread smelt amazing.

The kids and husband went for one of the amazing burgers on offer on the menu, with the kids choosing the more traditional burger, whilst husband went for the Mexican burger to remind him of our recent holiday to Cancun. The burgers were all cooked to perfection, and the home made chips were the perfect accompaniment to the meal.

I went for the mixed skewers which were chicken, steak and halloumi, served with mixed vegetables, soft wraps, and also home made chips. Again the food was delicious, and it was nice to have the option of ordering mixed skewers instead of 3 skewers the same.

Morgan and Katie ate from the adult menu, but if you have younger kids there is a children’s menu available offering a good variety of meals for younger guests. We visited on a Saturday evening, and even though the pub was busy, it still had a warm and welcoming feel for families. There is also an outdoor space to enjoy in the summer months, and upstairs they have a function room which can be hired out for as little as £40.

Parking is not available onsite, but we used the Sainsburys car park which is opposite. I understand the pub has recently set up parking arrangements with Sainsburys, and you will need to give your car registration number when visiting.

Thank you to the Ring O’Bells for inviting us for a complimentary meal for the purpose of this review. All words and opinions are my own.

  1. This food looks so good, it’s 10 in the morning and all I can think about it eating a burger now! I love knowing about good family friendly pubs in the area and this is a great review Tracey, I will definitely look out for it when we’re in Warrington next xx
