What kind of a World Book Day parent are you ?
Are you the organised parent who has been excitedly pinning costume ideas to your ‘World Book Day Pinterest board’ for months. Safe in the knowledge that whatever theme is thrown at you, you will have at least 20 ideas for a costume.
Or are you like me, quaking at the thought of producing anything remotely creative that your child can be seen in public with. I breathed a sigh of relief when I realised that World Book Day would falll when my daughter will be on a school residential. But alas the school will be celebrating a week later.
So I need to get my creative head on, and wonder how an earth I am going to send my daughter to school dressed as a crayon. YES, dress as a crayon really is our school’s theme, based on the book ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’. I miss those days of just sending the kids in dressed as their favourite book character.
If you are still struggling with ideas for World Book Day this Thursday, Bright Horizons who offer childcare in Teddington have come up with some fantastic ideas. And they have even included a difficulty rating, to help even the most non creative parents like me.
However your child celebrates World Book Day, I hope they have a fantastic day. And congratulations to all the parents out there who have sewed, glued, stapled, got covered in glitter and practically emptied the craft box. Only another 12 months till we get to do it all again.
