My 10 year old daughter loves being creative, so when she was asked to review the brand new Gel-A-Peel kits from MGA Entertainment, she was very excited. Creating your own jewellery with Gel-A-Peel has never been easier. You just simply design, peel, wear and share your designs with all your friends. The Gel-A-Peel kit we received is the perfect pack to get you started. It included 5 cool Gel-A-Peel tubes, a selection of nozzles which help you create different patterns, design templates, and items to help you create earrings and other accessories.
As we were going away for the weekend, Katie wanted to take the pack with us. As it was due to rain one afternoon, I thought it was the perfect activity for us to do. And you can’t beat a rainy day craft activity can you. The one item that you need that is not supplied is masking tape. This is to hold your design template in place, as it sits under the clear plastic sheet. When you remove the plastic sheet from the packaging it will be folded in half. You need to fold it the other way and then run it under warm water for a few minutes. This should help it to lay flat.
We unfortunately didn’t pack any masking tape, but my daughter seemed to manage with holding the sheet in place. She just tackled the simple designs such as the heart and letters. You need to let your design dry fully, and then peel it off the clear sheet. We only realised after that the drying times are on the design sheet, and my daughter peeled off too early. This resulted in it not being fully dry.
We had also been sent some sunglasses to design which she loved doing. She did find it quite fiddly at first, but I think the more designs she does it will get easier.
With going back to school tomorrow, she already has plans to design some of the bracelets one evening. I think Gel-A-Peel is a great after school craft activity, which can help them wind down after a day in school.
We received the deluxe kit which is priced at £24.99. Other items in the Gel-A-Peel range are the Starter Kit (£4.99), Accessory Kit (£14.99) and The Design Station (£29.99). You can visit the website to watch videos and learn all the tips and tricks for Gel-A-Peel.
We received the Deluxe Set for the purpose of this review. All words and opinions are my own.
