I can finally say that the exams are over, and as a celebration we were invited to Hickory’s in Chester to try out their new family feast. Hickory’s Smokehouse has one of the best locations in Chester, as it sits right on the banks of the River Dee. With it’s lively and welcoming atmosphere, it is perfect for a celebration.
You start off the Hickory’s experience with complimentary popcorn, freshly popped on site. We were here to try out their family feast, but of course I couldn’t resist a look through their vast menu. From wood fired chicken skewers to classic hot dogs, cobb salads to the Smokehouse Platter, Hickory’s has it covered with their tastes of the deep south.… Continue reading
Ever since the Storyhouse in Chester opened its doors in May 2017, I have been longing to see a production there. Located in the heart of the city, The Storyhouse is not just a theatre, but also houses a cinema, arts centre, restaurant, bars, and a pretty impressive library.
Katie and I were invited to the Storyhouse to watch the theatre production of Gangsta Granny, which is based on the book written by David Walliams. The theatre is an impressive 800 seat auditorium, and we found ourselves sitting in row L in the stalls. I would imagine that pretty much all of the seats have a good view of the stage, and booster cushions are provided for little ones.… Continue reading
Another two weeks has passed since my last Little Loves. The mocks have finally finished and the teen seems to have handled them pretty well. He has been working incredibly hard, and I hope this is reflected in his mock results.
Husband and I spent a lovely day in Chester on Wednesday. For the first 2 hours it was all about the Christmas shopping, and I was like a woman possessed. Once the bags had been deposited back to the car it was time to wander around the Christmas markets. And of course I had my first mulled wine of the season.… Continue reading
I love to celebrate my birthday, and on Sunday we visited Chester to indulge in some shopping, eating and of course a birthday cocktail or two. Chester has an abundance of eating places in the city, and Hickorys was top of my list for a celebration. Husband and I had previously visited Hickorys back in February, and since then we had been desperate to take the kids. And we were not only celebrating my birthday, but it was Katies in a few days time.
Hickorys has a fantastic spot by the river, and as soon as you enter you get caught up in the lively atmosphere.… Continue reading
I was recently given the challenge by Superbreak of exploring a city in 48 hours, and I had no hesitation in choosing the historic city of Chester. We live 25 minutes away from this beautiful city, but there is so much that Chester has to offer that we have never experienced. Chester is a city full of variety, from ancient walls to modern and vibrant restaurants. So what did we get up to during our 48 hours.
Where we stayed
The Chester Grosvenor is located right next to the famous Eastgate Clock, and is a luxurious 5* hotel. You are literally in the heart of the City, but The Grosvenor provides a calm and tranquil place to stay.… Continue reading
