Review – We were invited to the Cookhouse and Pub to enjoy a complimentary three course meal with drinks

At the weekend we were invited back to our local Cookhouse and Pub, to have a look at their new menu. We last visited the pub in Northwich, Cheshire just over a year ago, after it had gone through a refurbishment programme and changed from a Brewers Fayre to a Cookhouse and Pub. We were looking forward to returning, and seeing what new dishes were on the menu.

Dining at The Stretton Fox in Warrington – Review

Last Thursday we started off the glorious Bank Holiday weekend by dining at The Stretton Fox in Warrington. We had been invited by Vintage Inns to take a look at the newly refurbished pub, and to enjoy a complimentary meal.

The Stretton Fox - Vintage Inn

As The Stretton Fox is only 10 minutes from where we live, we tend to visit once every few months, and we were both looking forward to seeing the newly decorated pub. Having had a lovely country feel to it, I was hoping that this had still been retained after … Continue reading

Once a month the husband and I like to arrange a date night together, and I was especially looking forward to this month as it was during the Easter holidays. Of course I love spending time as a family, but ever since the kids were little, we have always made time for each other. After spending 2 nights in a Premier Inn all together over Easter, I was certainly looking forward to spending some quality time with just the husband at TGI Fridays.

TGI Fridays

It had been 2 years since we had last visited TGI Fridays, and I was looking … Continue reading

I know most people were  cheering to see the end of January, but I must admit it’s one of my favourite months. I know I’m in the minority, and we all know that January will never be able to compete against it’s glitzy neighbour, December. But I love it, and here are some of the reasons why.

Loving January

Birthdays

We celebrate not one, but two birthdays in our house in January. I celebrated mine on ‘Blue Monday’ which is meant to be the most depressing day of the year. Well not when you are celebrating your birthday with a trip to … Continue reading

It’s been 2 weeks since I joined in with the ‘Little Loves’ linky, and to be honest I nearly didn’t write this post. In a week that has been filled with such awful sadness, I found it hard to look for the little things that have made me smile. But when such tragic events happen, it’s even more important to look for the good that is happening around us.

I seem to have read alot of menus the past fortnight. From the amazing menu at The Alchemist which is literally full of delightful cocktails. To being faced with 3 … Continue reading

Treating the family to a special meal is always a great opportunity to get together, eat delicious food and catch up on everyone’s news. It seems there’s quite a few families nowadays who don’t sit down together at the end of every day. Instead eating separately, and missing out on all-important family time.

The Brook Restaurant

As the price of living and eating out has gradually increased, are families going to restaurants as much as they used to? Has the growing number of home delivery food companies encouraged families to stay at home. Choosing to dine in the comfort of their own home? … Continue reading

This past fortnight has been a funny old mixture. Ranging from the normal everyday activities such as work, school and clubs. To the pure excitement of school trips, pancakes and secondary school decisions.

At 12.10am on Wednesday morning I read two words ‘Place Offered’. Yes the 1st March was High School decision day. And even though I was 99.9% sure that Katie would be allocated a place at her brother’s school, it was still nice to get the confirmation. I was a mixture of nerves and excitement logging onto the website, not helped by the fact I had to … Continue reading

I always feel a little bit sad at this time of year, saying goodbye to the summer holidays. It was my 10th summer holidays since the kids started school, and they are definitely getting easier. The 14 year old is pretty much self sufficient now.  Yes he has probably spent far too much time on his PlayStation, but at times he has left his cave to play football with his friends. Katie is happiest when she is outside playing, and at times I have felt a little bit redundant. Part of me feels sad that they don’t need me as … Continue reading

Nandos

So tonight we have been out to Nando’s with the kids. The kids have never been to Nando’s and me and hubby have been only twice before many years ago. We chose Nando’s as, thanks to my mum, I received a gift card for my birthday. I rang to book a table, and I was advised they were not taking bookings. However, if I turned up around 5pm there should be no more than a 10 minute wait. We arrived just before 5pm and were seated straight away.

Now I am going to go out on a limb here as … Continue reading

No free lunch

So the question is….. Is there such thing as a free lunch ? Of course there is providing you go and gate crash your Mum’s Sunday lunches, turn up at your friend’s house demanding they cook you tea, or having a free toddler lunch at work (I work in a Nursery) ! But how about a free lunch in a fairly posh restaurant.

Well one day whilst I was on the Martin Lewis website, I came across the Club Individual Loyalty card. They were offering an incentive of £20.00 added to the card when you signed up. I quickly filled … Continue reading
