I love January because I celebrate my birthday this month, and what’s not to love when you are guaranteed at least one day filled with cake and presents. Plus we have more celebrations as Katie’s birthday is three days after mine. This year I was especially looking forward to it, as for us December had been pretty much a write off with various colds, coughs and blocked ears.

I totally failed in writing my Little Loves post for the month of July, but one word sums up why I didn’t get around to it…. Pneumonia. I have been poorly for around two months now, and spent a full week in hospital during August. But I’m going to try really hard not to dwell on that, and instead focus on the positives that came out of the summer holidays.

A week in hospital wasn’t quite the mini break that I had planned during the summer holidays, but I guess sometimes that you just have to expect the unexpected. Looking back over the past two months, it was hard to pinpoint a time when I had felt well. I had started off suffering with sciatica, which left me in pain for around 10 days. This eased off thankfully, and was nothing to do with my stay in hospital.

It’s something that we can all go through at some point in our life, and we can wonder whether it’s even worth it or not. If we’ve had yet another weekend marred by arguments, and you and your partner not talking to each other all day, but you’ve still got to work together for the sake of the children. You do wonder if the relationship is worth it at all, and if you’d be better off with the two of you separating, and taking on co-parenting duties.
