I love starting the year by looking back at our travels from the previous year, and hopefully this will give you some holiday ideas 2019. I always knew that 2018 would be the year we travelled less, mainly down to GCSEs which happened in May and June. This meant that we swopped our usual holiday in April, as the teen was revising over the Easter holidays, to going away over the Summer.
Considering we were not meant to travel much during 2018, we still managed a total of 13 trips between us. We usually spend between £3500 and £4000 on our annual holidays and trips away, but last year we spent just over £5300 in total, which is down to booking our main holiday during the peak time of Summer.… Continue reading
After our successful 36 hours in Edinburgh last summer, we decided that Glasgow would be our new city to visit for 2018. The easiest and most stress-free way to get to Glasgow from the North West would be by train, and once again I was quick off the mark when Virgin trains announced their sale.
After travelling back first class from Edinburgh last year, I decided we would travel in style again. I managed to book first class seats for the four of us, and it really does make a difference to our journey. Complementary food, more room in first class, a guaranteed seat with a table and plug, and that all important complimentary gin and tonic on the way home.… Continue reading
Our travel plans for this year are slightly different. Having managed 14 trips away during 2017, we will be travelling far less this year due to one thing…. GCSEs. Holidays are on hold for the first 6 months of the year, but I have made up for our lack of travel with our summer holiday trip. This is how 2018 is shaping up so far.
The husband and I managed to escape for a night to celebrate my birthday. We booked one of our favourite Premier Inns at The Trafford Centre for the bargain price of £29. We ate, shopped, drank gin, but sadly we were tucked up in bed before 10pm as hubby was suffering with the flu.… Continue reading
Premier Inn is one of my favourite hotel brands, and the one we have stayed in the most is the Trafford Centre West. Even though we are less than 30 minutes away, I have stayed at the hotel 12 times and I love it there. The main reason we stay there is the close proximity to the Trafford Centre. There are actually 3 Premier Inns within minutes of the Trafford Centre, but we always pick the West one to stay in. It has a large car pack and it is less than a 10 minute walk to the shops and restaurants.… Continue reading
I am linking this post (which is my very first blog post from September 2013) with Tots100 Be Inspired linky looking back at Summer memories
Remember the summer holidays ? We have got 4 days of school runs under our belt, and I must admit the summer holidays now seem a distant memory. I was lucky enough to have most of the school holidays off, and I knew I wanted to keep the kids busy. We love our holidays as a family and I always start thinking about the summer holidays around Easter time. As we had been to Florida in May I knew our holidays had to be fairly cheap, but I also wanted a few breaks away.… Continue reading
