During the summer months I spend my time gazing at other people’s gardens on instagram. Large sprawling gardens with an abundance of colour make me very jealous. If I could change anything about our home, it would be a larger garden. Actually I would also love an ensuite but I won’t be greedy.
We have lived in our house for 15 years, and over that time we have added a decking area which we use to dine al fresco (which happens about twice a year with our wonderful weather). Our garden is triangular shape, so we try and make the most of the space we have. The area below used to be filled with plants, but we decided to remove them about 2 years ago as we felt it would give more space in the garden.
We covered the area with stones and at first it looked lovely. It reminded me of a little beach area when it was first done as the stones reminded me of pebbles. But over time the stones became dirty, and full of leaves and berries from nearby trees. So we decided we would add another decking area, which would make it easier to brush up the leaves. I love our new decking area but I am undecided what to put on it. I was thinking of a more comfortable seating area or maybe deckchairs ? And then do we stain it or not ? Oh decisions decisions…..
I have to thank my wonderful step dad for putting the new decking down for us whilst we were away.
Oh that is lovely Tracey, it looks so neat. I wouldn’t know whether to stain it or not either. Is it big enough for those big steamer type loungers?I would love a space in the garden big enough for them xx
Hubby keeps saying he wants a lounger for the garden. He can sleep on it when he snores lol x
Ha! That’s brilliant x
It look lovely Tracey. You have a lovely garden. X
Thanks Lyn. I never think of our garden as lovely. I always look at other peoples and get garden envy x
Tracey it looks so lovely Iove the shape too, it makes it look different. We have a shingle patio and it looks great but the shingle is always getting walked into the house it drives me mad x
Sorry only just replying. Your comment got lost in cyber space when I migrated over lol. I love the idea of a shingle patio but yes I can imagine it getting everywhere. The new decking is certainly easier to brush the leaves and berries up x
Aaah Tracey!!! It looks FABULOUS!!! I bet you’re pleased as punch with it! Your clever old step-dad 🙂 I could do with him being sent to my house!! What a difference it’s made 🙂 Thanks so much for linking up with us — hope to see you next time 🙂 #HomeEtc

Hi Caro sorry only just replying. Migrated over to self hosted and your comment got lost in the process lol. I could not be without my step dad. Hubby is useless so he is my saving grace for all DIY and garden jobs lol x
That looks stunning! I do love decking – so much – so practical and makes everything look fab. Thanks for sharing, much appreciated 🙂 Jess xx

Thank you Jess for hosting too. I really must write more home posts and link up on a regular basis x
The decking looks lovely. In fact, your whole garden looks lovely and cared for. And the pots are gorgeous. We’ve just had a patch of our garden decked but I’m still not quite sure what to do with it.
Ha I am not sure about cared for but thank you. Me and the husband are masters at killing plants. In my fantasy garden I would have a huge decked area complete with hot tub….. bliss x
