Our Fantastic Girlie Get Away

Last weekend I was fortunate enough to go away for a WHOLE weekend with no kids or husband. My best friend turns 40 in November, and her fantastic husband had paid for her to hire a lodge with a hot tub. So after a meeting to discuss who would be taking what (well we basically just needed a swimsuit and alcohol for the weekend !!) it was time for Friday and our weekend could begin. After packing the kids off to school, of course with a big hug and several kisses from me, it was time to load the car. I actually thought I was going away for about 2 weeks judging how full the car was. I blame the amount of alcohol I had packed.

Anyway fast forward 3 hours and a slightly scary drive up the single track road, I had reached my destination. And WOW what a destination. We were in the middle of nowhere surrounded by the most fantastic countryside and rolling hills. My stress had seeped away and I was already feeling chilled out. As I was the first to arrive I checked in and went to check our lodge out. There are around 12 lodges on the site and they also have Wigwams here too. The first lodges you come to are very close together, and thankfully we were in a lodge which was slightly up the hill with lots of space between each lodge.

The lodge was huge and was just perfect for 6 ladies. There was a large open plan bedroom upstairs, and a further 2 bedrooms downstairs. The icing on the cake was the fantastic hot tub on the large decking area which was not overlooked. The weekend was spent chatting, giggling, sleeping, hot tubbing, eating, drinking, swimming. It was a perfect weekend in great surroundings celebrating my best friends 40th.

The only downside is there is NO mobile phone connection of any kind on the site. They do provide a public telephone which is available for 24 hours a day. We also paid for WIFI which was £15 for 3 days and this is per device. With 5 of us being Mums we needed to stay in contact with home (plus have the option of posting a few ‘look where we are’ pictures on facebook).

All in all I had a fantastic weekend with fantastic friends. I would like to say I came back feeling all refreshed from the weekend away, but that would be lying. I blame the alcohol and late nights. Big thanks also has to go to my hubby for looking after the kids all weekend. What more did I need to hear when I stepped through the door to be told the uniforms are ironed, packed lunches are all done and I have cleaned the bathroom too. Top marks my love !!

My friend booked the lodge through Hoseasons and we stayed in Black Hall Lodges in Knighton which is on the Herefordshire border
