Little Loves – Cottage Pie, Migraines and The Affair

This past week has seemed a little hectic and slightly chaotic at times. We have finally started work on the playroom after years of it being on the ‘DIY to do list’.  As the kids are getting older, we plan to have it as a second living space. Yes it will still be filled with the 10 year olds toys, but I have a multitude of Ikea storage units to hide them in. I can’t wait for the walls to be painted in a gorgeous grey colour. Anyway here are my little loves for the past week.

Wore

On Sunday I had a niggling headache all day, and when I woke on Monday it was a full blown migraine. It was bad enough for me to call in work sick, and I spent the majority of the day in bed. The only relief I get from a migraine is Kool n Soothe gel strips, and I wrote about them in more detail here.

Another product that can help with migraines are hemp gummies which can alleviate physical discomfort, whilst CBD gummies can help with pain, stress and sleep problems. The differences between hemp and CBD gummies can be found in many interesting articles as explained here.

Read

This week I started reading the Casual Vacancy by JK Rowling. This is the first JK Rowling book I have ever read, yes that’s right I have never read Harry Potter (gasp). It’s not my usual read, but it caught my eye in a charity swop. It was on TV a few years ago but I didn’t see the series. I am about 30 pages in and enjoying it so far.

Watched

I finally have something interesting to put in this section. Last week we joined the Now TV Blog Squad, and I was excited when I saw The Affair on the Entertainment section. I have wanted to watch it for ages, and we are 3 episodes in and I am already hooked.  It’s quite gripping and I am loving it so far. Roll on 10pm when the teen goes to bed.

Heard

I heard lots of chatter from the 10 year old about her day at Blackpool Pleasure Beach last weekend. Yes they all got very wet and very cold, but they had so much fun along with 8000 other cubs. I love all the adventures that being part of the scouting movement brings her.

Made

The husband is far better at cooking than me. Thankfully he cooks at the weekend and I cook during the week. This cottage pie is definitely in the top 5 of the nicest things he has ever made. It’s Slimming World friendly too so a winner all round.

And lastly

Husband and I have another night away to look forward to this weekend. We are working with Superbreak, and I will be sharing our adventures when we get back. Have a great week x

    • Yes we have all the books too as husband has religiously read them from the start. Infact he is excited as there is another Harry Potter book coming out in July. One day I WILL read them and watch the films x

    • Ah Pacey…. of course that was his name. I kept saying to the husband ‘its the guy from Dawson’s Creek’ as we couldn’t remember his name. Good to hear that you enjoyed Season 2 more than Season 1. We are loving it so far x

  1. Migraines are evil! I might check out those kool n soothe gel strips, it’s usually a cold flannel for me when I get migraines. Sounds like your 10 year old had a blast in Blackpool, my daughter misses the scouts, she’s 14 now so too old to go and they don’t do the next level up here which is a shame. Have a lovely night away x

  2. The Kool N Soothe strips are the only thing that helps me during a migraine. Ah yes she had a fantastic time at Blackpool. What a shame your daughter can’t go to Explorers after Scouts. Beavers and Cubs have been brilliant for my daughter, and she does so much with them x
