Do you ever read a blog or review, and wish you were at the place the person is writing about ? That is how I felt when I read Katie’s post from Mummy Daddy Me, all about her wonderful trip to the Ikos Resort in Greece. Katie and a group of other wonderful bloggers had stayed at the Ikos Oceania hotel. They also got the chance to visit the brand new Ikos Olivia hotel, which at the time was not open to the public. It opened in May 2015, and since its opening I have been dreaming of visiting this stunning new hotel. The Ikos website offers
Infinite Lifestyle in luxury resorts set in stunning natural locations, where elegance is omnipresent, yet understated. Where luxury all inclusive holidays are redefined.
After reading every page of their extremely well designed website, I knew we had to visit. Not only did the Ikos Olivia cater very well for adults (hello peace and quiet in the Spa), they offered a wide range of activities and clubs for the kids. Sadly the teen club only operates during the peak season. But give the teen a device and free wifi, and I am sure he will be happy.
So what are we most looking forward to when we visit Ikos Olivia ?
As we booked direct with the hotel, we get free transfers to and from the airport. No waiting around for a taxi, or worse a bus that will take you half way around Greece. Going from past experiences we are always the last drop off.
A big part of our holidays is eating out as a family. Not only does the hotel offer 5 amazing restaurants where the menus have been created by Michelin-starred chefs, but they also offer a dine out service. You get to dine away from the hotel and enjoy the Greek hospitality of the local restaurants. All part of your all inclusive service.
There are 4 pools to choose from, and I think my favourite has to be the swim up bar pool. Pure heaven. I shall look forward to my swim each day when it comes with a gin and tonic at the end.
We have opted to stay in a 1 bedroom bungalow suite set amongst the gardens. We will have our own separate bedroom and the children will sleep in the living room. In typical teen fashion, Morgan is excited about the mini bar which will be filled with fizzy pop. For me my holiday starts the moment I open the door to our suite. I get really excited about what lies behind the door, and I love exploring the room and hopefully checking out the gorgeous view.
Above all we are looking forward to uninterrupted family time away. Day to day life can be busy with work, home and running kids to various clubs. Throw in a teenager who is at the ‘staying in his room’ stage, and we really need a week together. To chill out, have fun in the pools, eat amazing food and enjoy each others company. Don’t get me wrong I am sure the kids will be bickering before we set foot on the plane, but that’s all part and parcel of a family holiday.
I just need the kids renewals passports to arrive, buy some sun tan lotion and go shopping for some summer clothes. Oh and I keep looking at the Deluxe collection with Ikos Olivia. You can have even more luxury if you book a bungalow in their Deluxe collection. You get access to the Deluxe pool, upgraded mini bar, bottle of champagne when you arrive, 2 Spa treatments, a special dinner set on the beach, PlayStation on request etc. Everything that the hotel offers sounds amazing, and I am so glad I read Katie’s blog post all those months ago. I can’t believe we will soon be sipping cocktails at the Ikos Olivia.
